Show-EZ™ Uses Same Software as United States Equestrian Federation
With a history going back almost 100 years, The United States Equestrian Federation's mission is "to be the best national equestrian federation in the world." It is certainly one of the largest; overseeing 26 breeds and disciplines of competition, it provides work for 125 staff members in 25 different departments.
Ottawa, Canada, May 18, 2006 --(PR.com)-- With a history going back almost 100 years, The United States Equestrian Federation's mission is "to be the best national equestrian federation in the world." It is certainly one of the largest; overseeing 26 breeds and disciplines of competition, it provides work for 125 staff members in 25 different departments.
The USEF boasts almost 100,000 individual members, holds more than 2,700 member competitions, and has 100 affiliate organizations. With all those members to keep track of, you can imagine the mountains of paperwork that USEF staff would face on a daily basis. If the average competition had 100 entries, the USEF would need to manage 270,000 show results a year in addition to the 100,000 membership records. After several years their database would hold well over a million records!
How Do They Do It?
The USEF uses the PHP programming language to keep their show records well-managed and up-to-date. PHP is proven, robust open source software that runs on any computer system, is well-supported and is over 10 years old.
Although the Show-EZ™ system is not nearly as old as the USEF, it has taken a lesson from the best and uses PHP to manage its online horse show entry system. The software is centrally located on a server, and can be accessed from anywhere there is an internet connection. No special equipment is required but if you subscribe to wireless internet, you can access Show-EZ™ from a Blackberry, Pocket PC or cell phone to provide live show results direct from the showgrounds!
The Show-EZ™ system was developed by Deb Whitten, an Ottawa rider who has been a programmer for 20 years, and who holds a PHP certification from Zend.com.
