Karma Gifting Pairs the Nature Conservancy with American Standard and Invents the Sustainable No-Goody Gift Bag
New York, NY, May 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- What happens when a major non-profit wants a goody bag, but wants it sustainable and with no bag? They call Karma Gifting. For this year’s Nature Conservancy gala “Design for a Living World,” Karma Gifting found the perfect partner — American Standard.
Jennifer Walker and Paula Doyle, principals at Karma Gifting, searched for the perfect item, no bag required, that would underscore the idea that sustainable design is available to all right now. The FloWise® Three-Function Showerhead, which saves up to 40% of water usage, fits all their criteria, including the design that reverts to lowest water-saving setting after each use. American Standard donated 410 items so that everyone attending can immediately start participating in sustainable design.
Design for a Living World is a unique exhibition that explores our connection to the natural world through sustainable materials, products and design, debuting at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. The Nature Conservancy invited ten visionary designers to develop new products from naturally grown and harvested materials. Each object tells a unique story about the lifecycle of materials, the regions from which they were sourced, and the power of consumers to reshape our economy and renew our relationship with planet Earth.
“We at The Nature Conservancy are acutely aware that there are truly important small steps everyone can take to positively impact the earth, the gift of these low flow showerheads fits perfectly with our belief of how everyone should start to consider the impact on the environment in everything they do.” Commented Bill Ulfelder, New York State Director of The Nature Conservancy. “We thank Karma Gifting for finding such an illustrative partner for us.”
“American Standard knows that the world needs to improve our environmental standards for all aspects of home design. We engineer water-efficient solutions such as high-performance showerheads, faucets and toilets that do not require sacrifice. Which means more people will conserve,” said Don Devine, American Standard president and chief executive officer.
