Local developers have been slow to embrace the green trend, using environmentally-friendly product's higher costs as reasoning to support their dedication to use conventional products.

Grand Miramar has started the trend in Puerto Vallarta, as the first resort property to make the switch to LED lights from the compact florescents or incandescent lightbulbs. Compact florescent lightbulbs use 90% less electricity than incandescents, and LED lights use a fraction of the power that compact florescents use making them the lightbulbs that use the least amount of power of any lightbulb on the market today.
