Bayer MaterialScience Wins Prestigious iF Communication Design Award for SampleBox

Pittsburgh, PA, September 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As a team, Bayer MaterialScience along with design agencies Golden Planet Design and soloTM have won a prestigious iF communication design award for the SampleBox. The SampleBox includes more than 40 material samples and was conceived to give clear and comprehensive insight into Bayer MaterialScience’s world of materials, allowing developers and designers to better understand its products while serving as inspiration for the applications of tomorrow.

Bayer MaterialScience’s SampleBox received the international award in the crossmedia category, which comprises entries that are part of a more complex overall concept and that combines, at a minimum, digital and print media.

The SampleBox enables designers to connect with the company’s materials portfolio through physical samples in a container made of Makrolon® polycarbonate and a companion SampleExplorer website
(http://www.sampleexplorer.com/internet/global_portal_cms.nsf/id/SE_EN_Home) that provides searchable, detailed information about the materials.

“We developed the concept based on discussions with designers, who often look for inspiration before seeking information,” said Brian Long, innovation manager, Bayer MaterialScience. “The SampleBox is unique because it shows a representative portfolio of Bayer MaterialScience’s materials and tells a more complete story.”

“We’re honored to be chosen as one of the winners out of more than 1,600 entries for this leading international design award,” said Ralph Schneider, innovation manager, Bayer MaterialScience. “Any time you get external recognition it is rewarding, especially when there’s been great team work. It validates the company’s approach.”

The awards show for the iF Communication Awards was held Sept. 3, 2010, in Munich, Germany.
