The On It Foundation Receives Generous Computer Donation from Ryder System, Inc.
Miami, FL, January 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The On It Foundation (Opportunities Necessary to Increase Technology) provides free donated computers and computer training to low-income families with students in grades K-12 who reside within the US. received a generous donation of surplus computers from Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions.
“This donation will allow our organization to provide computers in the homes of many families with students that do not have computers. Research shows that only 19 percent of economically underprivileged families own computers compared to over 33 percent of middle class households – a gap that has widened 64 percent over the past five years despite declining computer prices," said Calvetta Phair, President for The On It Foundation.
The On It Foundation will distribute all donated computers from Ryder System, Inc. within Miami/Dade County and the first recipients of 15 computers will be the families of the students at the Neva King Cooper Educational Center in Homestead, Florida. Neva King Cooper Educational Center is a special school within the Miami-Dade County Public School, educating profoundly handicapped students between the ages of 3-22. The center provides a variety of programs and services for the students, families and caregivers of the student population.
