Zeus Maximises Comic Relief’s Online Performance for Red Nose Day 2011

Comic Relief selects Zeus software to optimise web performance, enabling millions of pounds of donations for Red Nose Day.

Cambridge, United Kingdom, February 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Zeus Technology, the only pure software-based application traffic management (Application Delivery Controller) company, today announces that it is continuing to work with the Comic Relief Technology Partners to ensure the charity’s web performance is consistently reliable in the run up to and during Red Nose Day 2011.

Comic Relief will use Zeus software to ensure fast response times and maximum uptime, so the charity can process millions of pounds of donations. By managing Comic Relief’s web performance in real-time, the solution will mean www.rednoseday.com is highly scalable during peak periods and that the delivery of online donations and call centre team applications is reliably fast.

Online performance will be a key factor for Comic Relief as the charity aims to have the highest level of donations possible. In 2009, there were 540,000 online donations made on the night of Red Nose Day and up to 116 transactions made per second.

Tim Savage, Donations and Web Technology Manager, Comic Relief, comments, “The Comic Relief team is currently working hard to ensure the 2011 event is the most successful Red Nose Day to date. It’s really important we have a great network of Technology Partners so we maximise our donations. Zeus will play a crucial role in ensuring our website stays up and running, managing the 2.5 million unique visits we expect to our site. Zeus software is also the perfect fit with our technology, integrating well into our virtualised infrastructure.”

Kosten Metreweli, CMO, Zeus Technology, adds, “Playing such a key role in the technology behind Comic Relief and Red Nose Day is a real honour for the whole Zeus team. This is the fifth year running we have been selected for this project, with Comic Relief confident that our solution can handle the heavy weight of traffic they receive during their events. Comic Relief will have access to fast, reliable and secure web-based services that ensure a highly resilient, robust IT infrastructure. Safe in the knowledge that transactions are being made on a reliable online platform, the organisers can place greater trust in the technology behind their fundraising and focus on driving as many donations from the campaign as possible.”

About Comic Relief
· Red Nose Day 2011 is heading your way on Friday 18th March when the great British public will once again be asked to Do Something Funny for Money.

· To join in the fun go to www.rednoseday.com and find out how you can get involved.

· By raising cash this Red Nose Day, you’re helping to change lives forever. That’s because Comic Relief spends all the money raised by the public to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around.

· Comic Relief was launched on Christmas Day in 1985, live on BBC One. At that time, a devastating famine was crippling Ethiopia and something had to be done. That something was Comic Relief. The idea was simple – Comic Relief would make the public laugh while they raised money to help people in desperate need. Before too long, Red Nose Day was created and the first ever event in 1988 raised a staggering £15m. To date, twelve Red Nose Days have raised more than £500m. That money has helped, and is helping, to support people and communities in dire need both in the UK and Africa.
