Kids Wish Network Grants Disney Wish to Little Boy with Cystic Fibrosis
A 6-year-old with cystic fibrosis has his only wish to visit Disney World granted through national children’s charity Kids Wish Network.
Holiday, FL, February 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- When Hayden was just 3-months-old, he was diagnosed with having cystic fibrosis, a devastating lung disease that clogs the lungs, liver, pancreas and other intestines with mucus. This condition often leads to other lung infections and digestive issues. As an infant, Hayden was having such a hard time dealing with his illness that his doctors feared the worst. However, Hayden pulled through and he must now suffer nightly G-tube feedings as well as daily percussion vest and nebulizer treatments. He must also follow a strict diet and medication regimen that includes taking enzymes during meals.
When Hayden was referred by a family friend to children’s charity Kids Wish Network to have a wish granted, his first request was to visit Frontierland at Disney World in Florida. And now, with the help of some outstanding local sponsors, Hayden’s wish was just granted.
After a fun flight to Florida, Hayden and his family found themselves in Orlando, ready to enjoy all the fun to be had. During their time in the theme park studded city, they visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT Center and the Magic Kingdom.
For Hayden, his favorite part was riding the two “Toy Story” rides and visiting Frontierland. According to his mother, Patti, “He is still talking about ‘Toy Story Mania.’ He says he really wants to go back there because it was so fun. He also really loved The Buzz Lightyear ride and eating at Frontierland where they played as he calls it ‘Daniel Boone music.’”
In addition to all of the theme park fun, Hayden’s Kids Wish Network wish coordinator made sure that Hayden and his family had great accommodations at the Royal Plaza Hotel and awesome dinners every night.
“Wow,” said Patti. “I just can't thank them [Kids Wish Network] enough for making such happy childhood memories for my son and our whole family. We were treated like royalty. The entire trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all of us that will never be forgotten. Every detail of our trip, starting from the care package complete with roller backpacks, to the wonderful food (especially California Pizza Kitchen - that was our best meal there!), accommodations, Disney tickets, line hopper passes, great rental car, fabulous weather, perfect amount of spending cash…All we had to do was relax and enjoy ourselves! Who could ask for more?! I feel like I could go on and on about it…I just cannot express enough thanks for everything!”
