Rock Stars Shop to Promote Donate Life
Huntington Beach, CA, April 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Rock and Roll Emporium (RARE), an eclectic Rock boutique, is working with Donate Life America to encourage people to become organ donors. The store will host an awareness event during the Surf City Nights Street Fair Tuesday April 10, 2007 from 5pm to 9pm. Attendees who make a donation will receive a “Donate Life America” necklace or wristband, an entry in “The Rock and Roll Emporium Great Guitar Giveaway” and 20% off their purchases.
"We found out about this cause from one of our best customers and local rock icons Robbie “Razor” Robfogel who is alive today having been the recipient of a liver from an organ donor. Razor told us about Donate Life Rocks and it was something we felt we should be a part of. According to the Donate Life California website, nearly 20,000 Californians are currently waiting for an organ transplant and one third of them will die waiting. The street fair seemed the perfect place to get the word out about this issue,” said Andrew Kirby, managing partner of the retail store.
Robbie “Razor” Robfogel is a key contributor to Donate Life Rocks, a community of Donate Life supporters made up of musicians, donors, recipients, their families and friends. Razor will be recording two songs – one with Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osborn, DIO), Tommy Asakawa (Warrior), Ronny North, Steve Lynch (Autograph) and Kurt Koppel and the other with Pamela Moore (Queensryche) - to promote the Donate Life Rocks Concert that will take place in mid July in conjunction with The Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios. Razor and a few of the other organizers and performers of Donate Life Rocks are expected to shop at The Rock and Roll Emporium Donate Life booth Tuesday April 10 to show their support.
The event takes place during April, which is the National Donate Life Month (NDLM) instituted by Donate Life America and its members in 2003 and features an entire month of local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to become a donor. Other regional events this month include the Donate Life 5K Run/Walk and 1K Fitness which takes place Saturday, April 28 at Cal State Fullerton.
Donate Life America was founded to educate the public about organ, eye and tissue donation and avoid duplication of effort. The organization assists in mobilizing the transplant community to educate the American public on the need for organ, eye and tissue donation and motivating the public to make an actionable donor designation.
The Rock and Roll Emporium is a leading resource for those who want to live the "Rocker Lifestyle" and is a major attraction for downtown Huntington Beach, CA-Surf City, USA. The store has collected authentic autographed guitars; drum heads, photos, collectibles and Rock & Roll-inspired apparel and accessories from many of the best-known and respected artists in the world.
