FerrAlert™ Detectors Selected to Work Alongside Philips MRI Trailers in Afghanistan
Kopp Development Inc., the world leading manufacturer of Ferromagnetic Detectors for MRI Safety, is honored to announce that their detectors were selected for use in the mobile Philips MRIs headed to Afghanistan. They are said to be the first MRI units shipped by the U.S. to a combat theater.
Jensen Beach, FL, October 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On June 7, 2011, the Naval Medical Logistics Command (NMLC) announced the award of a contract for mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems to Philips Healthcare to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of Wounded Warriors in Afghanistan. Shortly thereafter, Kopp Development Inc. received the order for their FerrAlert™ detectors.
Kopp Development Inc. worked closely with Philips Healthcare Engineers to accommodate the unique aspects of this project.
Accidents caused by ferromagnetic projectiles can result in the prolonged loss of scan time. Down time for any MRI machine can be very critical to the outcome of a medical situation, but in a combat zone, it can be devastating. That is why the leading brand of ferromagnetic detectors, FerrAlert™, was chosen to help to protect the MRI machines that are so vital in the medical care of our soldiers.
