Skandia Windows Fashions: Partnering with Manasquan Premium Fasteners to Ensure Premium Product Quality & Integrity

Brick, NJ, December 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- For nearly five decades, Skandia Window Fashions of Tallahassee, Florida has been a leading provider of stylish, durable and practical window coverings and treatments ranging from horizontal and vertical blinds to shades, shutters, arches, cornices and drapery panels. Sold exclusively through retailers, showrooms and galleries nationwide, Skandia has also maintained this status through the ongoing employ of the highest-quality production standards used at both of its state-of-the-art facilities located in Thomasville, Georgia- and San Diego, Calif.

“Our company is dedicated to supplying customers with premier selections that are affordable, easy to maintain and beautifully designed with the broadest array of colors, fabrics and textures,” says Carol Thornton, who has served as Skandia’s purchasing manager for the past 18 years. “At Skandia, we also firmly believe that the choice of a window covering or treatment is a decision that will benefit customers for years or even decades. Because of this, we actively work to ensure that each and every purchase will be backed by long-term happiness and satisfaction.”

Founded by Hilmar S. Skagfield in the back of a dress shop in 1966, Skandia now utilizes the benefits of three manufacturing facilities to fulfill all the demands for its quality lines of window coverings and treatments. At the heart of this success is also the meticulous attention to detail that oftentimes results with customers sampling the fine workmanship and aesthetics of products in their own homes before purchases.

“We do not take anything lightly,” says Thornton. “Subsequently, our organization is committed to precision at every level. This extends from manufacturing to quality control and deep into the selection of materials that comprise our entire product line.”

Most recently, this intense ethic was tested when Skandia experienced challenging production problems with the assembly of their newly introduced SunQuest Solid Vinyl Shutter line, a classic southern style plantation design. A thick coating on the existing staples melted during the shutter manufacturing process and consequently jammed up the machines. Consequently, there were unacceptable production delays given that the stapling machines had to be frequently taken off line and cleaned.

As a result, Skandia turned to Manasquan Premium Fasteners in Brick, New Jersey for a solution to the challenge confronting the manufacture of its new shutter line and the 10-year customer warranty that supported each purchase. Within weeks, Manasquan remedied the situation by working with a local manufacturer to specially-develop a 1/4” x 5/8” stainless steel staple that combined superior fastening for the shutter’s tilt bar, with the benefits of a friction-activated resin that set like glue once applied.

“We learned about Skandia’s problem and ardently partnered with them to find an answer,” explains Robert Dey, partner of Manasquan Premium Fasteners. “This included reaching out to numerous fastener manufacturers until we could find one that thoroughly understood Skandia’s stapling process and possessed the means for proactively creating a long-term solution.”

“Manasquan was great,” adds Thornton. “They are now one of our best and most reliable suppliers. We rely on them for fasteners used within several product lines as well as recommendations for samples actively used in new product testing. Their resources have certainly helped to boost our productivity, while reinforcing our overall corporate integrity.”
