University of New England Announces Record-Breaking Enrollment

UNE’s fully online Master of Public Health program welcomes largest class ever for its fall 2012 term.

Portland, ME, October 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The University of New England (UNE) announces its largest ever student enrollment in its nationally accredited Master of Public Health (MPH) online program for the fall 2012 term. UNE welcomed 49 new graduate students into the program that began in September, bringing its total number of enrolled students to 112.

UNE’s MPH degree is offered completely online. It is nationally accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and regionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

“This is an exciting time for UNE,” says Denise Bisaillon, Ed.D., associate professor and director for graduate programs in public health at UNE. “During a time when many institutions are experiencing a decline in enrollment numbers, UNE and our graduate programs in public health continue to see growth. This speaks to the outstanding quality of UNE’s faculty, and to the university’s emphasis on innovative technology, enabling us to offer superior education to working professionals in a completely online format.”

UNE launched its MPH online program in 2005, and graduated its first class of five students in 2007. Since the program’s inception, UNE has conferred an MPH degree to 107 professionals in the public health workforce.

“Our goal in UNE’s public health programs is to improve the health and well being of individuals, families and communities, through education, research and service,” adds Dora Anne Mills, MD, MPH, vice president of clinical affairs and director of public health for UNE. “There is a critical need for public health professionals in this country. For instance, reforms in health care mean that physicians and other health care providers are increasingly responsible for assuring their patients are healthy. Public health tools are essential in that process. UNE’s high-quality, online MPH program provides our students with the education and professional skills they need to go out into the workforce and address core public health concerns in this country and across the globe.”

The MPH program highlights include:

- 46-credit hours
- CEPH-accredited
- A dynamic faculty of practitioners, researchers and educators
- Complete the degree in just over 18 months
- 100% online - no campus visits required
- Ability to learn anytime, from any place
- No GRE Required
