Tulane University Football Making Waves for 2014 Season
After 38 years playing home games off campus the Tulane Green Wave football program will kick off their inaugural season in the American Conference on a UBU Sports synthetic turf system.
New Orleans, LA, July 16, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Tulane Green Wave football program selected the UBU Sports® synthetic turf system to be installed on Benson Field inside the recently built, 30,000 seat, Yulman Stadium. The Speed Series™ S5-M synthetic turf system is part of Tulane’s “Home Field Advantage Initiative,” announced after the signing of coach Curtis Johnson in 2011.
The new 92,660 sq ft Benson Field features an alternating field green and olive green turf pattern with the Tulane Green Wave logo in the center and a unique white and green checkerboard end zone pattern. "The focus for the entire construction team was to design a field with a bold new look infused with Tulane’s robust athletic history," said Mark Nicholls, CEO of UBU Sports. “The design of the new UBU Sports synthetic turf field at Yulman stadium will play a large role in Tulane’s public image so it was important to create a design with impact for the television audience.”
The new Yulman Stadium brings the Tulane Green Wave football program back to the Tulane University campus, located in the uptown New Orleans district, after 38 years without an on-campus game field. The Green Wave comes into the new season with a lot of momentum, following a winning 2013 season, their first in 10 years.
“It’s an honor to have our Speed Series S5-M synthetic turf system selected by Tulane University for installation at the new Yulman Stadium,” said Mark Nicholls CEO of UBU Sports.
The new UBU Sports synthetic turf system features slit-film fiber infilled with silica sand and crumb rubber – the same turf system installed at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Metlife Stadium, home of the past two Super Bowls and the third UBU Sports synthetic turf system in the American Athletic Conference. The University of Houston and University of Cincinnati also play on the UBU Sports Speed Series S5-M system inside their home stadiums.
