New York, NY, January 27, 2015 --(PR.com)-- According to a new study out today, 76% of homeowners plan to take advantage of smart home technology in 2015. This number, when compared to the 10% who currently use the technology, suggests a year of great growth and success is ahead for smart-tech products in the home. Another finding: close to 90 percent of those surveyed said they want to reduce their carbon footprint and live in a healthier home with eco-friendly materials.
The study, which polled more than 500 homeowners across the country was commissioned by real estate developer, home improvement designer, author and television host, Sabine H. Schoenberg. Schoenberg has been a proponent of these technologies since their earliest introduction to the market in 2004.
“I am excited to learn that smart home technology and eco-friendly design are continuing to gain momentum in 2015," says Schoenberg. "They have the potential to revolutionize the relationship between residents and their homes, and homes and the environment.”
Other key findings:
● Smart home technology and eco-friendly products topped the list of products that people want to learn more about, 38% and 47% respectively.
● 57% said that if they see a smart-tech product that sparks their interest, they will buy it.
● 75% of those surveyed said they like to get their DIY info from TV shows, while 21 percent prefer online videos. Before and after renovations are most popular at 54% preference, with “how to” renovation shows a distant second at 31%.
