National Data Security Services Provider Releases New Appliance to Change the Way Companies Secure Their Networks
Ellisville, MO, September 09, 2015 --(PR.com)-- A small, solid-state computer is about to change the face of the retail data security industry. On Sept. 9, American Technology Corporation (Omega ATC) releases its Omega Appliance, a high-performance device that allows stores to monitor and alert management of data security issues.

The Omega Appliance delivers internal vulnerability scanning, comprehensive network monitoring, and logging for card holder data environments. This superior technology eliminates the need to install software on store systems. Each device communicates securely and directly with the Omega Security Operations Center (SOC).

“Some of our clients have point-of-sale (POS) systems that are locked down,” says Shekar Swamy, President & Senior Security Strategist. “Our customers were looking for an affordable solution that would allow them to have the best network security possible.”

“Retail systems need to be protected by the retailers,” Swamy continues. Environments that support EMV and Point-to-Point Encryption still need to carry out internal scanning, network monitoring and logging. The device easily carries out these essential security functions without requiring the retailers to make changes to their network infrastructure. Our experience working with retailers for implementing data security has allowed us to create this solution that fits into a wide-array of retail stores.”

Through the Omega Appliance, companies will be able to scan endpoints in the network for weaknesses, and also monitor the network for new connections, alerting management of suspicious activity. Companies can place the device within each of their stores, eliminating the need for an expensive high speed virtual private network (VPN) connection. POS vendors need not worry about installing anything on their systems, and retailers can protect their interests 24X7.

The only two requirements to operate this small, durable device will be power and an Ethernet connection. The device itself has no moving parts, with a solid-state hard drive and no fan, making it a reliable platform for data security. Because it comes pre-loaded with software, clients will be able to simply plug it into a network port within the Cardholder Data Environment.

All Omega Appliances communicate securely to the SOC from where all stores are centrally monitored.
