Elizabeth Branch Announces Senior Director of Housing

The Gateway Family YMCA – Elizabeth Branch welcomes Courtney Fairbanks, Senior Director of Housing

Elizabeth, NJ, September 06, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Gateway Family YMCA has announced the addition of Courtney Fairbanks, Senior Director of Housing at the Elizabeth Branch, 135 Madison Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ. “I’m excited to have Courtney join our staff team. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in social services to our Y and has already made a positive impact on the residents and members we serve,” stated Danielle Cioffi, District Executive Director, The Gateway Family YMCA.

Originally from the West Coast, Courtney comes to The Gateway Family YMCA with an extensive social services background. Courtney holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology from Haverford College in Pennsylvania. Courtney began her career in Florida as an in-home family therapist for high-risk youth and families who were referred for services from the Department of Juvenile Justice. After moving to New Jersey, she began working as a Team Leader at Easter Seals. Most recently, Courtney was in the position of Senior Wish Manager at Make-A-Wish New Jersey.

“I’m excited to bring my clinical training and strong mental health and substance abuse background to the housing program, and to be a part of the Y team! The housing department is committed to helping our residents lead stable and independent lives, and assist them with providing case management services while they are living in our shelter, but also linking them to the wide variety of services available in the community so they can continue to have that support once they leave our shelter for permanent housing,” added Courtney.

The Gateway Family YMCA – Elizabeth Branch provides social services and emergency, temporary and residential housing programs to support individuals in need of a safe environment, as well as traditional YMCA programs to the community. “The Gateway Family YMCA was just awarded a new grant for non-emergency assistance eligible individuals and families. This funding will help us provide short-term housing to individuals and families who would otherwise be homeless, as well as supportive case management services while they are searching for permanent residency,” stated Courtney.

The Gateway Family YMCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, health and community service organization of caring staff and volunteers dedicated to strengthening the foundations of community and stands For Youth Development, For Healthy Living and For Social Responsibility. The Gateway Family YMCA impacts the community by providing quality services to people of all ages, races, faith or incomes. The Y doesn’t just strengthen bodies – it strengthens people, families and communities.
