The Event Series
This is Monogram Virtua’s third virtual event in a series of aficionado based cyber world shows designed to bring members of Second Life’s various communities together. The idea for the Art Exhibit was born out of a conversation that Monogram Virtua co-Founder Randall K. Rubin had with Ariel Zuñiga. A close family friend, Ariel is Francisco Zuñiga’s son and is chief manager of his father’s important and prolific artistic legacy. Rubin was in the midst of describing his work with Monogram Virtua in Second Life and asked if Ariel would allow his company to represent his father’s work in the cyberspace. With his permission, Monogram Virtua quickly established an art gallery dedicated to Zuñiga’s works next to the movie theater on Monogramia Prime (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Monogramia%20Prime/41/74/22). The gallery attracted the attention of fellow art enthusiasts in Second Life including that of Oma Infinity, Opa Infinity and Val Thor whose Earth Elements Art Gallery rests on the rooftop of the Zuñiga gallery on Monogramia Prime. Though previously there were various groups and loosely connected organizations, it became clear that their had not been a single over-reaching inspired event designed to bring the entire community together. The First Annual Second Life Art Exhibit & Jewelry Show is designed to be just that, an event to bring artists & jewelers from inside and outside Second Life together.
Monogram Virtua’s Marketing Director Andrea McCloud (SL name Anakalia Catteneo) informed thousands of Second Life artists, jewelry designers, owners of real life and virtual galleries and retail shops, and received responses from hundreds of ecstatic SL members who are expected to arrive in cyberspace to interact and share their creations over the course of the two day event without ever having to leave the comfort of their laptops and PC’s.

About the Featured Artists
Francisco Zuñiga was one of the most highly honored and prolific Mexican contemporary artists of the 20th century. Zuñiga was a member of the Academy of Art, Mexico and was winner of the Kotaro Takamura prize in Japan, received the National Awards for the Arts, and was honored with an Exhibition in the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Stanley Silver’s artwork spotlights the impact of sport and celebrity on our culture. With his realistic technique, Silver illustrates, in a way few artists can, the intensity of the colorful personalities he paints, as well as the raw emotion of the personalities as they actively pursue their passions whether on the big screen or on the athletic field. He creates a dramatic and timeless feel in all of his work and includes personalities from sports and entertainment such as Jimi Hendrix, Jackie Robinson, Frank Sinatra, and Al Pacino. He captures the essence of his subjects’ personalities in each painting he creates and his mastery of the canvas enables him to paint his subject matter with raw emotion and accuracy. Stanley Silver developed an intense interest in capturing life through his art.
Tony Rich is debuting his paintings for the first time in Second Life. Rich got his start in the entertainment industry as a staff writer at LaFace Records. While there, Rich penned hits for Boyz II Men, Johnny Gill, TLC and Toni Braxton. Rich is known for his solo debut in early 1996 with the cd Words and the hit single "Nobody Knows," which made it to number 2 on the top 100. Both the album and single went platinum and in 1997, Tony Rich won the Grammy for Best R&B album. The album featured two Grammy-nominated singles, "Like A Woman" and "Nobody Knows." In 2003, Rich came back on the scene with the album Resurrected. Carrying a very different style this time around, the album featured Rich rocking out on the guitar as well as singing smooth ballads. Rich released a fourth album, Pictures, in 2006. The album contains snapshots of a relationship, and is far more in the veins of his earlier works.
