Biography
Patricia Kelley, BookPitch.com founder and CEO, is a businesswoman and an author. She believes that good writing and business success should be a naturally great fit, and has developed a website to prove it. A successful business-development consultant who has guided companies in many fields, she sees no need for book publishing to do business the way it did in the fifties.
Many excellent creations are born out of someone's legitimate frustration, and BookPitch.com is no exception. One of Patricia Kelley's most satisfying professional achievements of the last few years was her completion of a proposal for America's Dog Heroes of Ground Zero: A Biographical and Pictorial Salute to the Four-Legged Heroes of September 11, 2001. The poignant, powerful collection of FEMA photos she won permission to include particularly impressed her hard-working agent and the editors who saw and wanted to buy the proposal. But the final result was all-too-typical: mixed messages, communication glitches, corporate undercutting, glacial turnaround time, until everyone involved became exhausted, and this excellent project was temporarily shelved.
What this author needed was BookPitch.com. So frustration found its inspiration, and she created it.
Her book ideas keep coming, as well. Prison Dogs: Hope Behind Bars is the first book to be written about the unfailingly successful, redemptive prison dog program, subject of much media attention. Thank God for Roadblocks and Train Wrecks: Finding Your Biggest Blessings in Your Darkest Times is a new look at the pearls of possibility that often arrive disguised as personal loss. Due out in 2006 is Patricia Kelley's book about another four-legged, the first-ever guide to equine marketing.
In addition to writing, Patricia Kelley has enjoyed a multi-faceted career, primarily as an entrepreneur. She was one of the first women—and the youngest—licensed real estate agents in the Pacific Northwest. She has managed major commercial properties and was a business planner during the Dot.com/Dot.bomb boom.
Patricia Kelley, who lives in the State of Washington, is delighted to be launching BookPitch.com, a pioneering website aimed at facilitating communication and community in her favorite industry, book publishing. And she is grateful for the roadblocks that prompted her to create it.
