Deacom

Prior to establishing Deacom, Inc., Jay Deakins founded and served as President of The Sun and Earth Company, a manufacturer of all-natural cleaning products distributed through national supermarket chains and other mass merchants. Among other duties at Sun and Earth, Deakins led the development of software to manage all operations of the business. Through this process, Deakins learned firsthand the many pitfalls of internal software creation within a manufacturing company.

As a direct result of this experience, Deakins formed Deacom in 1995, a producer of innovative software for manufacturing companies. Initially, Deakins set up Deacom headquarters in his basement. There he single-handedly developed the software from scratch, sold DEACOM Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software systems and supported his customers during the day, and wrote code to further advance the software at night. Deacom relocated to its first corporate offices in 1999.

Today, in addition to Deakins, Deacom has a large professional staff and occupies expansive offices in Wayne, PA. Deakins is an active member and speaker for various industry associations, including the Coatings Research Group, Inc. (CRGI), Coatings for Plastics Symposium, and the Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC), Inc.

Deakins attended the University of Miami in Florida, where he played on the golf team. He currently resides in Devon, PA and when not working to grow Deacom, spends his spare time playing golf, running and flying his airplane.
