Biography
As CEO of IP Watch, Kerry DeLay McCane has established the company headquarters in the midst of the Kansas City Entrepreneurial Start-Up Community. Located with the Start-Up Village, in the country’s first “Google Hood”, with access to the most reliable and fastest internet connectivity provided by Google Fiber, IP Watch is uniquely positioned to benefit from constant interface with many start-up technology firms. McCane is tightly linked into several programs sponsored by the Kaufmann Foundation for Entrepreneurs, as well as national and local chapters of Financial Executives International, Association for Corporate Growth and Compliance Week for Corporate Governance.
As owner of Zephyr Business Consulting, McCane has worked with multiple rapidly growing businesses, with 3 of her clients honored on the Inc. 500 list for the fastest growing private companies in America. Her work has spanned several industries and she has served many roles, including interim CFO, Chief Strategy Officer, and team leader for acquisition due diligence to name a few.
McCane grew up in Council Grove, Kansas, graduating from the local high school where her father was principal, in 1988. She excelled as a three sport letter-winner and was class valedictorian. She graduated from nearby Kansas State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. She began her career with Procter and Gamble in Kansas City. Advancing her career in manufacturing management and capital management from 1993 through 2001, McCane led work in Kansas City, the corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, and several European locations.
In 2001, McCane joined Burns and McDonnell Engineers and Architects in Kansas City as a project manager and in charge of business development for the newly created consumer products division. She soon moved back into manufacturing the plant manager of a new plastic packaging facility in Kansas City with Consolidated Container Company.
From 2002 through January of 2006 McCane rose quickly from her initial position as plant manager and was soon leading the development and implementation of manufacturing systems for the corporation. Her time was then spent between the corporate headquarters in Atlanta and the 68 manufacturing facilities across the US, Canada and Mexico.
While working full-time and traveling extensively, McCane earned her masters in business administration in finance and operations management from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, graduating with honors. While a student, she had two articles published in academic journals, one focusing on maintenance systems and the other on total quality and customer service.
At the end of her tenure with Consolidated Container Company, McCane was responsible for large capital projects, new facility construction, and acquisitions of new companies as well as the integration of new operations into the corporate fold. She also managed the Engineering and Innovation Center for the company and in that role worked closely with customers in the development of state of the art packaging solutions for new consumer products.
McCane joined Clockwork Home Services in January 2006 as Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions and was rapidly promoted to Chief Financial Officer / Chief Administration Officer. In that role, McCane maintained responsibility for M&A activity in addition to the typical finance and account functions. More uniquely, McCane was responsible for Information Technology, Human Resources and Legal as well. As a large franchisor for three field service brands, McCane was responsible for managing a large intellectual property portfolio and the filing of the company Franchise Disclosure Documents each year.
