Jaipur
Jaipur, the colourful capital of a colourful state, was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Most of its buildings are periodically given a pink-orange wash. The major sights include the City Palace (built between 1728-32), the astronomical observatory and the Palace of the Winds.
