The 2005 Syrah has a deep ruby red color with a purplish hue. The nose displays classic Santa Barbara characteristics of jammy red fruits, a lush aromatic sweetness enveloped nicely by the roasted nutty oak notes. The entry is focused and rich, leading to a mid-palate that is concentrated with ripe fruit, chewiness and fleshy density. The oak that was such a nice, integral part of the nose, backs up the mid-palate quite nicely as it leads the way to a firm and expansive finish.
