Tree & Shrub pruning is a necessary and common task. There are many different kinds of pruning, such as crown cleaning - pruning the dead and diseased limbs out of the canopy of a tree, or crown thinning - pruning the interior rubbing or crossing limbs out of a tree, allowing for better windflow throughout the canopy lessening the chances of it falling during a wind storm, crown raising - or elevating the lower limbs of a tree, usually for better clearance underneath for mowers, traffic, sunlight, etc, and crown reduction - thinning the top out of a trees canopy to reduce the denseness of the canopy.
