Lasik Surgeon
Description:
DR. BOOTHE - PROFILE
Since 1987, noted cornea specialist Dr. William Boothe has brought the world into focus with more than 99,000 LASIK vision correction procedures. Dr. Boothe has personally performed more VISX Custom 3-Dimensional Wavefront Customized laser vision correction procedures than any other surgeon in the world and was named VISX Surgeon of the Year by the manufacturer in 1999.
Dr William Boothe was recognized by the laser maker as the world's busiest IntraLASIK surgeon. To date, he performed more than 57,000 IntraLASIK procedures. His vast experience and the volume of patients he treats each week ensure that Dr. Boothe is able to determine the best treatment method for different eye conditions. His patients trust his judgment and recognize his passion for excellence and his commitment to state-of-the-art technology, all of which have made the Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center in Texas one of the premier vision centers in the country.
Dr. William Boothe LASIK (an acronym for Laser in-situ Keratomileusis) procedures often correct or reduce moderate to high levels of nearsightedness (myopia), astigmatism and farsightedness (hyperopia). The traditional LASIK procedure is relatively simple: a keratome is used to gently create a flap in the cornea.
When Dr. Boothe uses the IntraLASIK technique, the flap is created by a computer-controlled, precision laser. The flap is lifted and an excimer laser is then used to shape the remaining tissue. The flap is then carefully set back into place, forming an occlusive seal by osmopic pressure. Osmopic pressure holds the flap in place and allows it to heal very quickly, without stitches!
Studies have shown that the LASIK procedure causes the least amount of discomfort when compared to all other types of refractive surgeries. Patients have also reported an almost immediate improvement in their vision following the LASIK procedure. Most patients say they experience little or no discomfort during or after the procedure.
Dr. William Boothe also notes that recent studies claim that in overall long term safety, LASIK has won over an extended daily use of contact lenses. It seems that major improvements in recent years of the technologies of LASIK have resulted in a safer, more accurate procedure.
ARE YOU A CANDIDATE FOR LASIK OR INTRALASIK?
Dr. Boothe suggests a simple way to determine whether you may be a good candidate for laser vision correction. Go over the following definitions and see if they apply to you:
- Are at least 18 years of age with -1 to -12 diopters of nearsightedness.
- Have healthy eyes that are free from severe retinal disorders, corneal disorders, or any eye disease which would make the surgery contraindicated.
- Have had stable vision for the past year.
- Have no abnormalities that could affect healing (such as severe diabetic eye disease).
- Are fully informed about the risks and benefits of laser surgery compared with other available treat without your glasses or contact lenses.
If it seems that you are a good candidate for LASIK vision correction and want to learn more about the procedure, get a professional opinion from Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center which is now offering a FREE initial screening. To set up an appointment, please contact us directly at 214-328-0444.
