Description:
FiberLight’s Metro-Ethernet Access Product known as LightSource Metro-E
(LightSource CME) is a switched data service that allows for versatile scalability and flexibility over an Ethernet network. It allows enterprise and carriers to interconnect to two or more locations (point-to-point or point-to-multipoint) within a Metropolitan Area network (MAN) as if they were segments of the same LAN using packet-based switching technologies.
Ethernet services provide a low cost alternative to legacy digital and OCN services which have been deployed for years in the traditional telecom Metro architecture. Ethernet allows carriers to interface with customers on a redundant or diverse access basis. The major drivers for using Ethernet are the low cost of equipment and the ability to inexpensively segregate the customer’s bandwidth for multiple applications over the same pipe.
Fiberlight’s LightSource CME uses native Ethernet that allows customers to bypass the traditional “last mile” connectivity and connect to their locations efficiently. This transport product provides immediate benefits such as lower access cost, faster bandwidth upgrades, reduced equipment costs and flexible technologies.
