Tech Coast Venture Network Panel Will Explain How to Make a Good Impression Before Potential Investors
Irvine, CA, August 15, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A veteran and savvy group of angel and private investors will discuss what entrepreneurs need to know about making a good impression when presenting to potential investors at the Tech Coast Venture Network’s monthly forum on August 28, 2008 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the 2nd floor Conference Center of Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP, 2040 Main Street in Irvine, Calif.
In pursuit of its primary goal of providing opportunities for entrepreneurs to network and interface with early-stage capital sources, TCVN has also invited two companies to make presentations to a group of high profile, angel and early-stage venture capital investors. The companies were selected based on their proposed technologies, product, and/or service offerings, and the potential investment opportunities.
According to TCVN chairman Bart Greenberg, in anticipation of the Tech Coast Venture Network’s “Survivor 4” forum to be held on September 25, 2008, attendees will learn what information is required in a good investor presentation, what business opportunities investors consider and why, and what questions should be expected from potential investors.
Presenting companies include:
Freedom Grill, Inc. – Steve Caliguri, CEO - Freedom Grill, Inc. designs and provides innovative products and accessories for the tailgating, camping and outdoor activities markets. The Company has combined the sizzle of the fast growing specialty automotive aftermarket with America's hunger for better cooking indoors and out. Headquartered in Poway, California, the Company's innovative market entry product, the Freedom Grill FG-100(TM), is an easily transportable, high-performance gas grill designed for the Extreme Tailgating crowd. The new FG-50(TM) is the first grill designed specifically to look and perform great on the back of a vehicle as well as a tabletop or cart. The grills mount to any standard tow hitch for maximum versatility. With the barbecue grill mounted outside the vehicle, there's more room inside for gear, food, or passengers. The swing away arm and high quality gas grills make Freedom Grills the ideal accessories for trucks, SUVs and RVs.
With "The Official Grill of Tailgating™" cooking outdoors has never been more convenient. Freedom Grills are perfect for tailgating, camping, fishing & hunting, and even home grilling on decks, patios, or backyards. For real barbecue aficionados Freedom Grill even offers an award winning line of Fire Brand Grilling Sauces. The Company's products are sold through specialty BBQ retailers, sporting goods stores and hardware stores. To date the company has sold over 15,000 units with revenues of $3.76 million. Over the next five years Freedom Grill intends to continue to develop new products including an entry level FG-40 grill, expand on marketing to create greater awareness of the product line, and develop licensing deals for team specific products. The company is seeking $3 million to fully fund this growth.
New Media Search, Inc. – CEO Roger Moyers - Founded in December, 2007, and located in San Diego, CA, New Media Search provides current, accurate intelligence about online advertising. The Company’s service offering allows ad publishers (web sites), ad agencies and advertisers to better understand advertising behavior online. It arms ad publishers with important data they can use to attract more and better advertisers to their sites. In addition New Media Search offers a trusted, third party ad verification system so publishers can validate their ad placements. For agencies and advertisers the company provides real time insights into who, what and where their, and more importantly, their competitors, ads are appearing.
Using a combination of state of the art computer vision algorithms and a robust ad extraction tool, New Media Search automatically identifies and classifies display (image) and video ads. The automated approach allows the system to work on both large and small sites. This gives their customers a much longer reach, allowing them to place their ads on the smallest, niche web sites. The service is delivered to customers through an online web portal for which they pay a monthly subscription. Project based revenue is created through special branded projects built around the ad extraction and classification capability. The Company is self funded to date and is seeking $0.5M to $1M in funding to finish product development and grow the business.
The panel of investors includes:
John Garcia, the co-founder and managing partner of Angel Strategies, LLC, an international angel capital firm, Douglas L. Pennington, executive director or the Private Capital Network, LLC, Mustapha Baha of the Pasadena Angels, and Donald H. Kasle, a member of the Tech Coast Angels.
The panel moderator will be Robert Ochtel, president of The Carlsbad Technology Group, and a hands-on business executive with over 24 years of experience in all aspects of high-technology and international business development in both the semiconductor and telecommunication industries.
