Oriental Rug Retailers of America (ORRA) Selects Daniel Kennedy Communications Services for PR and Brand-Identity Marketing Communications
New York, NY, August 15, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Oriental Rug Retailers of America, Inc. (ORRA) has chosen the New York City-based consultancy Daniel Kennedy Communications Services for public relations and brand-identity marketing communications.
The award-winning Daniel Kennedy consultancy has wide-ranging national and international Public Relations expertise, including creating the 2006 name brand identity and PR launch of the now internationally recognized, socially conscious AfghanMark rug brand that certifies pay rates and working conditions for women who weave the carpets of Afghanistan.
The ORRA is a non-profit membership organization supporting Oriental rug retailers, wholesalers, importers and service-related companies. According to ORRA Executive Director Elizabeth Arnold, “The Oriental Rug Retailers of America organization was founded in 1969 to bring high standards and ethical practices to a business sector once fraught with itinerant sales and misinformation. For example, ORRA developed the Certified Rug Appraiser Program, whose graduates are now accepted as objective rug quality experts by consumers, retailers, banks and insurance companies throughout the US and Canada.”
“We watched as Daniel Kennedy successfully launched the AfghanMark brand. We knew of his previous branding work creating the name and identity for a California-based company now known as The Blue Danube Wine Company, which imports high quality wines into the US from central and Eastern Europe. We look forward to his creativity and counsel for our ORRA marketing efforts,” said Elizabeth Arnold. The Kennedy consultancy’s AfghanMark branding received six national and international PR and marketing awards.
“Daniel Kennedy is the only American PR executive I know of who has done his homework so thoroughly that he has traveled to meet locally with Afghan business people and visit their rug-making studios in locations such as Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif and Andokhoy, Afghanistan,” Ms. Arnold said.
New York City-based Daniel Kennedy Communications Services represents regional, national and international clients primarily in two categories, (1) travel & tourism and (2) professional services with an emphasis on architecture and design. The Kennedy consultancy was the first-ever PR agency to represent Austrian Airlines and the Romanian National Tourist Office in the USA. Kennedy represents the architecture firm Steven Kratchman Architect, P.C., which was founded by the designer of New York City’s famed Chelsea Piers complex, and has represented the New York School of Interior Design, the designer/author Lady Henrietta Spencer Churchill of England and the annual Ars Electronica Festival in Austria, the Romanian National Tourist Office, the Austrian National Tourist Office, Lattelekom of Riga, Latvia, the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, the Mid-Continent Railway Museum in Wisconsin and “Historic New England Driving Tours,” a consortium of eight outdoor living history museums.
Prior to establishing Daniel Kennedy Communications Services in 1992, Kennedy served as director of media relations for Simon & Schuster publishing, VP Marketing Communications for Ruder Finn Public Relations and as a senior manager of communications projects for JCPenney. Kennedy holds a BA degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.Ed. degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
