30 Years of Sound Security

Everett, WA, August 15, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Sound Security Inc., doing business as Sonitrol Pacific, began providing electronic security services to businesses, schools, government facilities and organizations in Everett, Wash. in 1978. Five offices and more than 4,900 apprehensions later, the company celebrates its 30-year anniversary this summer.

Beau and Debra Bradley founded Sound Security with the mission of creating a company dedicated to providing the best security technology supported by exceptional service. That mission remains the same today and serves as the cornerstone of Sound Security’s success. The company recently earned a ranking of 35th largest company in the industry, an accomplishment Sound Security’s leadership attributes to the focus on a service culture.

“You’ve got to instill it in everybody,” Beau Bradley said of the company’s passionate commitment to service. “You’ve got to push all employees to make decisions that are in the interest of customers even if it’s a risk. If it’s a wrong decision made in the interest of the customer, we’ll support it.”

The Bradleys filled every role when the company launched in 1978. From sales and installation, to accounts receivable management and account monitoring, Beau and Deb did it all. Today, almost 100 employees take care of clients in Everett, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, and Boise, but the sense of family remains the same. The average Sound Security employee has been with the company for over five years and four joined the team more than 20 years ago. The Sound Security family is very important to the Bradleys personally and in regard to the success of the company.

“Our customers have high expectations,” Bradley said. “We have to deliver.”

For Sound Security, one difference is local: local ownership, local service, local monitoring. Keeping the company local allows Sound Security to address the unique challenges faced by the communities they serve. Instead of centralizing the sales and service departments, Sound Security’s leadership team determined they could maintain sales, installation and service offices of a certain size in multiple locations and provide a higher level of customer care while maintaining efficiencies.

“I see what we can be in another 20 years,” Bradley said. “I have a lot of goals for this company and for myself individually. If you’re not growing, you’re dying.”

With no plans to retire, Bradley continues to work to realize his vision for Sound Security. The company expects to continue to strengthen their presence in the commercial security market, furthering the mission to provide customers with the highest level of security for their dollar invested and to provide customers with more than they feel they are paying for.

A small, mini-mall suite on Evergreen Avenue housed Sound Security’s first office. In 1985, the company moved into a new facility on California Street. The office measured more than 3,200 square feet, dwarfing the Evergreen suite. Wayne Ohlemeier, Chief Technical Officer, remembers the day the lights went on.

“It was huge,” Ohlemeier said. “We never imagined we’d fill those rooms.”

However, two decades of growth and technology led to those rooms being filled and in 2007 the company remodeled and expanded. The current Everett office is 8,700 square feet and reflects Beau Bradley’s vision for the future of Sound Security. The Operations Center was designed with the ability to expand and incorporate changes in security and monitoring technology for the next 15 to 20 years. With 30 years of experience in verifying system activations, the company will continue to expand their audio and video verification capabilities.

Located on the second floor, the Operations Center enjoys natural light while still complying with UL standards. To promote the wellness of Sound Security employees, the third floor of the facility houses a workout area with recumbent bike, treadmill, elliptical trainer, yoga mats, free weights, shower facilities and an entertainment system.

Sound Security hosted a grand opening celebration in late 2007. Guests took tours, talked with technicians and operators, and learned about the latest trends in access control and video surveillance. This event was particularly fun for the Bradleys who got to mingle and reminisce with many long-time clients, a few of whom were among the first Sound Security clients 30 years ago.
