The LaRoi Glover Foundation Hosts Back to School Shopping Spree for San Diego Youth
San Diego, CA, August 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The La’Roi Glover Foundation will host a Back to School Shopping Spree for 40 deserving students on Tuesday August 19th from 12:30pm to 4:00pm at the Target store located at 1288 Camino Del Rio N, San Diego, CA 92108.
On this date, the LaRoi Glover Foundation, led by Spring Glover will provide 40 deserving youth with lunch and a $200 Target gift card to help with their back to school needs. The group of eager shoppers will take over Target in a rush to get the hottest looks for fall. The students will also receive a backpack filled with school supplies to ensure they start the school year well prepared.
Glover, a six-time Pro-Bowler, is well known for his community involvement. In addition to providing college scholarships for San Diego students, Glover is an official spokesperson for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri as well as being a Big Brother. In 2007 he was named the Ram’s Walter Payton Man of the Year for his on-field and off-field accomplishments.
“I remember growing up, we didn’t come from any money or anything like that,” Glover said. “Whatever my mother had, she was willing to share it with not only family members, but other folks who were less fortunate than we were. So I think that’s sort of what started it.”
Glover and his wife, Spring, established The La’Roi Glover Foundation in August 1999. LGF benefits children in states where La’Roi has lived and played football. The foundation provides annual scholarships, works with community organizations, and assists deserving youth in reaching their educational goals.
