Island Delight Launch Caribbean and British Fusion Slices at Notting Hill Carnival
Birmingham, United Kingdom, August 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Island Delight, the company which is famous for its Caribbean patties has launched a new range of savoury slices which fuse the best of Caribbean cooking in a very British savoury slice.
The new range includes the Spicy Chicken and Spicy Beef slices which are made with the finest British ingredients fused with Caribbean inspired spices to create a delicious savoury snack. The new slices may rival the traditional Cornish pastie for popularity when they are launched at Notting Hill Carnival this month.
The new Beef and Chicken Slices will be launched at the UK’s best known Caribbean celebration where Island Delight founder and Jamaican-born Wade Lyn will be personally giving away thousands of the new slices to revellers throughout the weekend.
Wade Lyn said: “Our new Spicy Chicken and Beef slices are a real fusion of Caribbean and British personality. We make every slice using the finest meat and then mix in a selection of peppers, onions and spices to bring them to life.
“Caribbean culture and influence continues to be an extremely important part of modern British cuisine. With our new range of slices we have taken the very best of the Caribbean’s vibrant and exciting flavours and fused them into a traditional British savoury slice.
“The launch of the new range of Island Delight slices is part of the natural evolution of Caribbean cooking which will ensure it survives and grows in the UK.”
The Spicy Chicken Slice is made with tender pieces of chicken with garlic and peppers cooked in a spicy and tangy sauce, all encased in a delicious short crust pastry. The Spicy Beef Slice contains tender pieces of beef with fresh garlic and onions cooked in a special blend of spices encased in short crust pastry.
The full range of new slices will be complete later this year when Island Delight introduces vegetable, lamb, fish, and three bean slices. For now though the new Island Delight slices cost 99p each and are available at selected Tescos across the country. Visit www.island-delight.co.uk for a full list of stockists.
Island Delight’s range of traditional Caribbean patties continue to be sold in supermarkets across the UK and are available in chicken, beef, lamb, vegetable and salt fish, Halal lamb and Halal chicken flavours.
