Ian Woosnam to Represent Forgan of St. Andrews at Casa Serena
Seniors European Tour Order of Merit leader, Ian Woosnam has announced his entry in the Casa Serena Open to be staged at the prestigious Casa Serena Golf Course, Czech Republic from 5th to 7th September 2008.
Birmingham, United Kingdom, August 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Woosnam will be looking to secure his third victory of the Tour to extend his lead of the Seniors European Tour Order of Merit – ahead of rival Bernhard Langer. Woosnam is currently €30,000 in front of Langer, after consistent performances on the Tour to date, including two wins and solid performances at the Senior Open Championship and US Senior Open.
The Casa Serena Open is offering a total prize fund of €600,000 on the Senior Tour’s debut visit to the country, in what is expected to be one of the greatest events of the tour, bringing together two Ryder Cup winning captains batting for a place at the top of the Order of Merit. Langher will pose a strong challenge for the title after demonstrating excellent form on The Seniors Tour golf this season with two victories on the US Champions Tour; a second place at the USPGA Championship and fourth at The Senior Open Championship.
The Casa Serena Open will be staged at one of Europe’s most modern courses, the Casa Serena Golf Course – extending 7,000-yards; the par-71 course was completed in July, 2007 and features an inland links style layout that will offer a demanding challenge to the Seniors Tour Professionals.
