Gallery KH to Show New Paintings by Leslie Tejada

Chicago, IL, August 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Gallery KH is proud to showcase Woven Light, the latest exhibition by gallery artist Leslie Tejada. Woven Light runs from September 5 to October 5 with an opening cocktail reception scheduled on September 5, 5-8PM.

After finding inspiration in the landscapes of Santa Barbara, California for 40 years, Tejada made the move to Portland, Oregon where she found new inspiration in the northern light and the changing seasons.

The patterns, textures, and rhythms of nature are expressed in the layering of translucent color. All of Tejada’s paintings feature metallic and interference pigments, which cause subtle or dramatic color changes depending on the light. Freed from any specific narrative, quiet, quiescent spaces of beauty are created which invite the viewer to reflect.

Tejada has developed a personal aesthetic based on subjectivity, drawing upon imagination through experimental processes. As her creative process is non-conceptual, often a specific imaginary source of any one painting is as much a mystery to the artist as anyone else.
