Acting coach, David Lehman celebrates 27 years of coaching “Non – Acting” for film and television

Burbank, CA, January 31, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Until recently, David Lehman has been something of an unsung legend and Hollywood landmark, bringing his original and non-conformist style of acting training to his loyal and devoted students throughout Los Angeles for the past 27 years, from his studio in Burbank, CA.

The Davenport, Iowa native began his career in radio broadcasting, traveling around to markets in small cities throughout the US. After a short stint in the army and a career as a sales representative, Lehman wandered into a Meisner technique inspired acting class at the age of 40. Lehman discovered a passion for the craft of acting and three years later began working for acting instructor, Charles Conrad as an acting teacher.

Lehman began to recognize some key points that were crucial for success in on-camera acting:

- Over-rehearsed actors are more resistant to direction. Direction is crucial for film and television performance
- “Living in the scene” is more effective then “Acting out the scene”
- On a film or television set there is very often little or no time for rehearsal. Actors must know how to prepare in solitary and be able to take whatever the other actor throws at them on set
- An actor who has lost their spontaneity, has lost the ability to perform truthfully

David Lehman opened his own Film Acting Studio in 1977 at 1819 W. Verdugo Ave., Burbank, CA 91506; where he remains to this day. Mr. Lehman’s students have gone on to book major television and film credits as a result of his training and nurturing of talent.

WHAT HIS STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY:

"Now I am confident, willing to take risks, and self-assured in my acting. I attribute all of this to David Lehman's method of teaching." --David Williams

"I got the ability to re-trust my spontaneous energy in performance and audition situations." --Gerald Smith

WHAT THE INDUSTRY HAS TO SAY:

"Lehman's actors are so well grounded, so drilled in the art of spontaneity that they are always creative, even with the most mundane script" --Mark Malis, formerly in charge of talent for Universal Television

"I've been in this business for 45 years, and I've learned more about acting in the past hour and a half than I learned in all that time." --David Graham, Casting Director
