Davies Turner Air Cargo Maintains Status as Leading UK Independent
In the latest IATA/CASS league table for 2007, Davies Turner Air Cargo has maintained its position as the UK’s highest placed privately owned independent freight forwarder.
Dartford, United Kingdom, August 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The company’s chairman, Peter Castree attributes this to a number of factors.
Key is the company’s ongoing improvement of its global agency network working with carefully selected partners committed to providing optimum local coverage, facilities, quality systems, knowledge and experience world wide.
Furthermore, enhancements to its regional office development are important and the company is currently developing its presence in Yorkshire at Leeds Bradford airport.
Equally important is the company’s commitment to service improvements at all levels in the supply chain. A demonstration of that commitment came earlier this year, when Davies Turner Air Cargo became one of Europe’s first Authorised Economic Operators.
Mr Castree adds: “To be one of the first off the starting block with AEO accreditation is a demonstration of the compliance culture within the company and evidence that we fully comply with all financial and Customs requirements. It demonstrates the first class nature of physical security at all our facilities and throughout our transport operations.”
With a network of 12 airfreight offices in the UK, the company’s activities are significantly enhanced by the Davies Turner Group’s own investment in its ocean, logistics and overland trucking facilities in the UK. This includes expansion in Bristol with the development of a purpose-built regional distribution centre at Bristol providing the Group with even greater multimodal and logistics capabilities. The total area of the company’s warehousing at Avonmouth now amounts to more than 15,000 sq. metres, comprising an existing purpose built transit facility, plus the newly built distribution centre.
Concludes Mr Castree: “Fuel surcharges and the slowing global economy are giving airfreight forwarders plenty to think about at present. Davies Turner Air Cargo remains convinced that our ongoing investment in people, infrastructure, service development, customer service and IT initiatives will help us to maintain our position as the UK’s highest placed privately owned independent freight forwarder and provide a viable alternative to the multinational forwarders.”
