Venice Indian Volleyball Wins Preseason Home Opener

Venice, FL, August 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Venice High School Volleyball defeated Fort Myers in 3 games Tuesday August 26 by the score of 25-21, 25-23, 25-13. It was a classic Venice win with disciplined defense and passing, aggressive swinging, and a whole lot of guts. Both teams stayed very even the 1st 2 games until about 20 and then the Indians put it into high gear.

Venice High was lead by junior outside hitter Dorothy Rahal who led the team with 16 kills; junior middle hitter Jillian Allen registered five aces and a block and junior setter Taylor Capasso finished up with 35 assists and three kills.

Coach Brian Wheatley was impressed with his young team's first game. "I thought we looked like a very disciplined team, a very headstrong team," Wheatley said. "That's a scary thing (playing in your first varsity match). We've got a lot of people in the stands and for a lot of these guys it's their first varsity match ever and they came right out of the gun."

The Wackos were out in full force which really sparked a lot of energy into the match. Looking forward to seeing a great crowd for the Championship game on Thursday August 28th at 7PM against Berkeley Prep at Venice High School.

Venice Indian Volleyball was 2007 District Champ. Venice High School is located in Venice, Florida.
