Ryan Fischer is a recent graduate of the IU School of Informatics at IUPUI where he specialized in sequential narrative. His capstone project was a 28 page original color comic book entitled “Vacations to the Underground” which is on sale at select area retailers and stores. It entails the whimsical adventures of a fascinating civilization living deep beneath the earth’s surface in a phantasmagorical underworld with wizards, evil cabals, everyday sorts, and even rock concerts.
Original color as well as black and white single page comic panels of “Vacations” will be shown. A wide variety of original design pieces will be on display including ceramics, oils, character design, and figure toys.
Ryan Fischer says, “I have always been an artist. Drawing is something I constantly do.
“Tim Burton has created some of the most outstanding dark, strange and stimulating creative visions in filmmaking history, including Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and Sleepy Hollow. His characters are inventive and inspiring and yet often on the edge of society much like mine.
“My art style is anime. Japanese anime began at the start of the 20th century. My art style is also manga which is the Japanese word for comics. Manga, literally translated, means "whimsical pictures."
Mr. Fischer’s website www.ryanfischer.com features a large variety of his work, including links to various sites displaying his characters. Fischer, a graduate of Hamilton SE high school still lives in Fishers, IN.
