Woosnam and Russell to Represent Forgan of St. Andrews at Woburn
Woburn Golf and Country Club is the next venue to stage the next tournament on The European Seniors Tour, the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters – Duke’s Course from 29th to 31st August, 2008.
Birmingham, United Kingdom, August 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Located near to Milton Keynes, UK – the club has witnessed some of Europe’s greatest golfing moments, including Ian Woosnam’s famous British Masters victory in 1994; like his counterpart and former Ryder Cup captain – Mark James, Woosie will be looking to add the Senior Masters title to his hugely impressive track record on the European Tour.
Order or Merit leader Woosnam and team-mate David J Russell (‘DJ’) will both represent Forgan of St. Andrews at Woburn, with Woosie looking to increase his lead from Bernhard Langher – currently chasing the former winning Ryder Cup captain of 2006. Despite this being his debut season on the Seniors Tour – Woosie has achieved two victories in Poland and Russia, with consistent performances at the US Senior Open (T23) and last week’s PGA Seniors Championship at Slaley Hall, Northumberland (T14).
The Travis Perkins plc Seniors Masters will be played on the historic ‘Duke’s Course’ at Woburn Golf and Country Club – labelled as one of the finest inland golfing settings in Europe. The course has staged the British Masters for the past 20 years and is now home to the Senior Masters and various men’s and women’s professional golfing events. Duke’s third has recently entered the World’s Top 500 Holes to play.
Amongst the big-names to join Woosie and ‘DJ’ at Woburn is Carl Mason – recognised for his career achievements at Woburn including the 2007 Senior Masters title; in addition to Brand Junior, Mark James, Gordon J Brand, Costantino Rocca and Sam Torrence.
