Volunteer Web Site, Marking Third Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina
Gaithersburg, MD, August 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- TravelTelevision.org is launching a new outreach to increase “crowdsourcing” of stories from the volunteers who have been active in rebuilding the Gulf Coast in the post-Katrina and Rita era. The TV series, which airs on The Dish Network and community stations around the country, celebrates the first anniversary of its live broadcast kick-off today. TravelTelevision.org’s partner website, ProjectKatrinaVolunteers.net, provides multiple platforms for sharing pictures, videos, stories and comments from volunteers who have been critical in keeping the rebuilding process alive.
Today marks the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and the area is still in need of volunteers to help restore and repair. TravelTelevision.org will begin to reach out to communities across the nation to collect the personal accounts of the 2 million volunteers who have participated in this unprecedented effort.
Since its creation in 2007, TravelTelevision.org has been highlighting volunteers to share their selfless stories and inspire volunteerism

About TravelTelevision.org
traveltelevision.org is a magazine-style television program devoted to the generosity and adventure in all of us. As a nonprofit TV program, they are seeking distribution through community TV stations around the United States. The series is dedicated to sharing the experiences of the selfless volunteers who have travelled to the Gulf Coast region to help with the recovery.
One of Travel Television’s most important projects is its new website, projectkatrinavolunteers.net, launched to give Hurricane Katrina and Rita volunteers a place to tell their stories. The site is also part of an effort to help those who are thinking of going to the Gulf Coast an opportunity to see and hear the stories of those who have already volunteered their time. Volunteers have found that spending their vacation in the Gulf region is a life-changing experience, and the website is a place to share their experiences and to stay connected to the community that needs continuing support. The website is easy to use, and allows links to videos by volunteers and a discussion page to post dialogue and commentary about volunteering and volunteer experiences. The website is run by a grassroots group of volunteers who want to help the recovery efforts.
