UVA Student Receives $7,000 Scholar at Sea Award
Washington, DC, September 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) has awarded Sarah Brown its Scholar at Sea Award. The $ 7,000 scholarship will partially cover her participation in the Semester at Sea program, which allows students to visit nearly a dozen countries while studying on a sailing campus.
Brown is a junior majoring in art history and French.
Partnering with the Semester at Sea program, NSCS presents one scholarship to an outstanding member each semester. The University of Virginia academically sponsors this program and grants credit from more than 70 courses.
“We’re happy to help Sarah participate in a program that’ll broaden her perspectives,” said Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS’ Executive Director. “Her outstanding application and interview earned her the opportunity to learn in a campus as rich in diversity as each port has to offer.”
