Former Naval Officer Adapts Spiritual Principles to Teaching in Los Angeles‏‏‏‏‏‏

It's Really Hard to Love You When You Spit on my Floor! A Guide to Teaching with Spirit. New Book Shows Teachers How to Apply Spiritual Principles to the Classroom.

San Pedro, CA, September 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- When teacher John M. Bjorge took a position at a new high school in South-Central Los Angeles in 2005, he believed that if he respected his students, his students would in return respect him, and all would be well in the classroom. After years of struggling through the day, recuperating from exhaustion at night, and forgoing any balance in his life, the battle-worn Bjorge realized he needed to re-evaluate his teaching philosophy.

Bjorge decided to apply basic spiritual principles to his approach to the classroom. The effect was undeniable: Transformed from within, he became a far more effective teacher who not only enjoyed teaching again, but also was able to uplift the atmosphere of his classroom. In It’s Really Hard to Love You When You Spit in My Floor!, Bjorge shares with his fellow educators the successes he has experienced.

“I wrote this book to share the magic I had found by teaching with spirit with like-mined teachers,” Bjorge said. “I think the greatest benefit of teaching with spirit has been the personal joy I have achieved as teacher: I love going to work, and I love interacting with my students.”

A workbook and a practical guide, It’s Really Hard to Love You When You Spit on My Floor! focuses on the underlying spirit in which teachers interact with their students. Each principle is illustrated with colorful anecdotes and reinforced with techniques and exercises. Written for new teachers and seasoned professionals alike, the book describes the first-steps and follow-up actions to transform a classroom and to teach with spirit.
