(Teen) Queen’s Visit to Luton
Local businessman has afternoon tea with (Teen) Queen.
Luton, United Kingdom, September 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- It was tiaras but no tantrums when not just a queen, but a princess too paid a royal visit to Luton (2nd September) and took tea at Luton Hoo, as a guest of Luton’s philanthropist and millionaire businessman, Mr. Jan Telensky.
The young head-turning royals were 17-year-old Joanne Newell from Prestwick, Scotland, and 15-year-old Mia Powell, from Crawley, West Sussex, both newly crowned in the UK’s national Teen Queen beauty pageant, which recognises the talents and beauty of young girls aged 13 - 19 years old. The two girls fought of competition from 8,000 entrants to secure their crowns and spent the day in Luton shoe-shopping and enjoying the regal surroundings of Luton Hoo.
Demonstrating that they had brains as well as beauty, Joanne and Mia were in Luton to receive their winners’ prizes of state of the art laptops from Mr. Telensky, presented on behalf of his Collingdon Street firm, SkillsTrain, Europe’s leading IT home study and distance learning college.
SkillsTrain are a major sponsor of the national Miss Teen Queen beauty pageant and benefactors to several other youth charities and sponsorship schemes and were founding sponsors of the YOPEY (Young People of the Year Awards) which recognises and rewards the contribution young people make to their communities.
Lina Perrini, organiser of Miss Teen Queen UK said, “It’s great to have SkillsTrain on board as a sponsor because their business is all about self development and advancement, through training. One of the most important aspects of Teen Queen is that it recognises the talents of young girls and helps to highlight their achievements and their future potential”.
Mr. Jan Telensky said, “These girls are just delightful. They’re beautiful to look at but were both sparkling with personality and are great ambassadors for young people. I hope they have a wonderful year and thoroughly enjoy their success”.
As well as selecting some of the most beautiful under 19 year olds in the country, Teen Queen UK this year also raised over £6,000 for The Phillip Green Memorial Trust, which helps sick and disabled children in the UK and overseas.
