Viva Paws Vegas! Casino Night Fundraiser – September 13, 2008
Event will benefit three non-profit animal charities: Animal Rescue Center, National Canine Cancer Foundation and Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue.
Phoenix, AZ, September 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Animal Rescue Center (ARC), National Canine Cancer Foundation (NCCF) and Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue (DLRR) will join together to host Viva Paws Vegas!, a casino night fundraiser on September 13, 2008. The event will be an evening of charitable gaming, entertainment, food, silent auction, live auction and raffle prizes. All proceeds go directly to the three non-profit groups hosting the event.
In 2007, over 56,000 animals were euthanized in Maricopa County, Arizona. Each year hundreds of animal rescue groups and shelters in Arizona save thousands of homeless dogs and cats and provide a variety of services to improve and save their lives. These groups are all independently operated and are responsible for raising the funds necessary to continue their life saving work.
“The three groups hosting Viva Paws Vegas! operate solely on the generous hearts of our volunteers and individual donors,” says Virginia Martinez, Director of ARC. “Operating rescue organizations and fighting canine cancer through research requires a major financial commitment and charitable donations from an event like this are very important.”
Viva Paws Vegas! sponsors include the Room Store, Paws Resort and Spa, Travel Hounds USA, Boulder Falls Pet Resort & Day Spa, Gypsy Sister, PDQ Printers, Max Muscle, McTheny Insurance Agency, Top Notch Canine and Paradise Lounge. “With the generous help of our event sponsors we will have an exciting event with entertainment from Mike Chamberlain and his band and over 130 auction items which include dog houses, destination packages, sports memorabilia and more,” says Martinez.
Viva Paws Vegas! will be held on September 13th at the Phoenix/Scottsdale Embassy Suites, 4415 Paradise Village Parkway, Phoenix, AZ. Ticket prices are $55 each and include $500 in casino bucks for gaming activities, appetizers, entertainment, event gift bag, and access to all auctions. Highlights of the many ways animals’ lives have been touched by these groups include:
• ARC has rescued 3,566 animals since 2004
• NCCF fights canine cancer by funding research grants to find a cure and better treatments.
• Over 250 rescued Labrador Retrievers were placed in their forever homes in 2007.
• 1 out of 3 dogs will get cancer, 50% of those dogs will die. NCCF diminishes suffering through research, education advocacy and service.
• Many animals are now being turned in by owners of foreclosed homes who need to move and cannot take their pets. ARC and DLRR reach out to the community and place the animals with the right families.
About Animal Rescue Center:
Animal Rescue Center (ARC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our no-kill shelter, currently located at 4015 E. Cactus Rd in Phoenix, has been in existence since April 2004. We strive daily to find homes for unwanted or temporarily lost dog and cats, those that have lost their way or been cast away by prior owners and are in danger of euthanization because their numbers are so great, their chances of finding their forever homes so low. We have over 3,500 amazing successes and desire to keep that number growing. Visit www.animalrescuecenter.net.
About National Canine Cancer Foundation:
The National Canine Cancer Foundation (NCCF) is a nationwide, contribution funded, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem in dogs by funding grants for the scientific efforts of cancer researchers who are working to save lives, find a cure, find better treatments, find more accurate, cost effective, diagnostic methods in dealing with cancer, and diminishing dogs’ suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service. Visit www.wearethecure.org.
About Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue:
Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue (DLRR) is an all-volunteer, Federal 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue organization for Labrador Retrievers in Phoenix and most areas of Arizona. In addition to rescue, our volunteers provide medical care and/or rehabilitation for these dogs and then attempt to match them with appropriate, permanent homes. Through public education, we strive to help eliminate pet overpopulation by encouraging the spaying/neutering of pets. Visit www.dlrrphoenix.org.
