O’Guin Decorative Arts Attends Six-Day Color Seminar in California

During the training, Christopher O’Guin, vice president of sales and product development, gained a more thorough understanding of how color, light and psychology work together for homes and workplaces. He feels this will increase the depth and effectiveness of the company’s work.

Naples, FL, September 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Christopher O’Guin, vice president of sales and product development at O’Guin Decorative Arts, recently attended a seminar entitled “Color Mastery – Light, Color, Design, & Psyche.” The six-day class was hosted by Joanne Day of The Day Studio Workshop, Inc. in Oakland, California.

The Day Studio teaches professional high-end painted finishes, murals, and color, and maintains high standards of technical and creative artistry. The workshops offered a thorough foundation on topics including application techniques, tools, mediums, paint chemistry, preparation, and glaze formulas.

“Joanne Day has been a premier colorist in the U.S., and a chairperson at the Color Marketing Group for some years,” O’Guin said. “The class was composed of six professionals from all regions of the country, including artists, a space-planner/designer, and decorative arts professionals.”

During the class, O’Guin gained a more thorough understanding of how color, light and psychology work together for homes and workplaces. He feels this will increase the depth and effectiveness of the company’s work.

“Making custom mixed colors has always been part of our work, and being able to reach them in a more precise way will be helpful,” he said. “Knowing how light effects the perception of different pigments within a color will help us know what certain colorations will look like at different times of the day, before we present it to the designer or client.”

O’Guin has already implemented some of the ideas he learned during the class, and he plans to build them into the company’s work by the end of the year.

O’Guin Decorative Arts, a second-generation decorative arts studio, creates and installs custom wallpapers, fine finishes and textures as well as natural earth and lime plasters. For over 25 years, the skilled team of trained artisans has treated each installation as an original work of art.
