Atlanta, GA, September 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Visix, Inc. welcomed the announcement of U.S. News and World Report’s ranking of America’s Best Colleges 2009, which showed that 40 of the top 100 national universities are using unified communications applications developed by Visix. The number has grown from the 2008 ranking, which showed 30 percent of the nation’s top schools using Visix technologies.
This year’s list of notable colleges and universities includes Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of California - Berkeley, and University of Texas - Austin, as well as smaller schools like Colgate University and the United States Military Academy. U.S. News publishes its Best Colleges report each year based on data gathered from participating schools for up to 15 indicators of academic excellence. Rankings include top national universities, as well as subsets in liberal arts, engineering, business, masters and baccalaureate categories.
Of all schools ranked for excellence this year, more than 100 have deployed Visix technologies, which provide a sophisticated, campus-wide communication solution to deliver news, announcements, event schedules and emergency alerts to students, visitors, faculty and staff. The company’s suite of browser-based software allows for timely distribution of static and video content to thousands of overlapping endpoints that range from large screen and flat panel displays to projectors, televisions, desktops, mobile phones and RSS enabled devices.
“Colleges and universities of all sizes are seeing the value of delivering relevant information to a variety of endpoints, not just digital signs,” comments Trey Hicks, Vice President of Sales for Visix. “Campus communicators are tasked with delivering a wide array of information from a number of decentralized groups to different target audiences. Our solutions help them to streamline and modernize the process across multiple channels. With the value of visual communications technology being recognized at both administrative and student levels, we expect adoption to continue to grow.”
