Redbird and Xwind Move Flight Training in a Whole New Direction
Redbird Flight Simulations, Inc. and Xwind, LLC join forces to bring affordable motion technologies to the flight training industry.
Austin, TX, September 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Redbird Flight Simulations, Inc., announced today that it has signed an agreement which will make Redbird the exclusive dealer for the Xwind 200 Crosswind Landing Trainer, designed by Xwind, LLC. Redbird will market the revolutionary crosswind trainer alongside its own line of full motion simulators, making motion training devices affordable and readily accessible to the general aviation and flight training industry.
The Redbird Xwind is a skills trainer that teaches proper crosswind landing techniques, making pilots more proficient in one of the most accident prone aspects of flight. The NTSB reported 2684 weather related, general aviation accidents from 1995 to 2001. Of those, 45% were due to crosswinds and gusts. By employing an electric motion platform that provides 60 degrees of roll, 90 degrees of yaw, and 14 feet of lateral drift the Xwind sharpens the stick and rudder skills necessary to safely land in these challenging conditions.
This alliance will set new standards for training in the aviation industry. “I’m thrilled about the benefits that we bring to market by joining forces with Redbird,” said Xwind founder and president, Brad Whitsitt. “We are truly positioned to make motion based training available to all pilots of regardless of skill level.”
“The combination of Redbird and Xwind delivers compelling value for our customers,” added Todd Willinger, Redbird CEO. “It allows us to extend our leadership in providing exceptional motion based flight simulation at a price point that all flight training programs can afford.”
Redbird Flight Simulations unveiled the new Redbird Xwind alongside their much anticipated FMX, a truly affordable, full motion flight simulator, at this year’s EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Both units are available for demonstration at the Redbird headquarters in Austin, Texas and can be seen at air-shows and conferences around the country in the coming year.
