Napo-DFW Encourages Americans to Get Ready During National Preparedness Month Thursday, September 25, 2008 NAPO DFW Meeting

The National Association of Professional Organizers, D/FW Chapter is proud to participate in the 5th Annual Prepardness Month (NPM)in September. Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security's Ready Campaign, NPM is a nationwide effort designed to increase awareness as well as encourage individuals, families, businesses and communities to take action and prepare for emergencies.

Dallas, TX, September 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- To help its members and the community become better prepared, NAPO-DFW is educating the public regarding the importance of careful preparation and planning to effectively deal with emergencies and natural disasters by holding an open meeting on Thursday, 6:30 pm, September 25, 2008 at La Madeline Restaurant, 5000 W. Park Blvd. S100, Plano 75075. The charge for this event is $20 unless you are a NAPO-DFW member.

“I hold this effort close to my heart and hope to assist many families this year to prepare them for a disaster,” said NAPO-DFW Communications Director, Terri Cox. “As professional organizers, we are trained to help our customers at home and in the office for emergencies. Our chapter will offer a variety of information including basic emergency preparedness and emergency supply lists of items suggested for management and recovery from potential emergencies including natural disasters and terrorist attacks.”

At this meeting they will:

Discuss emergency preparedness for their area with a Dallas area Firefighter
Discuss the need and provide checklist for creating an Emergency Supply Kit
Provide Ready Set Prepare Activity Books for children ages 4-7
Provide information about the different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses

NAPO joins more than 1,200 national, regional, state and local businesses and organizations that have pledged their support and joined the 2008 National Preparedness Month Coalition. National Preparedness Month helps to raise awareness and promote action by Americans, businesses, and communities on emergency preparedness.

“Individual preparedness is the cornerstone of emergency preparedness,” said Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. “Experience shows that if Americans take steps ahead of time, they stand a much better chance of coming through an emergency unharmed and recovering more quickly.”
