ComputerWeekly.com and Firebrand Training are on the quest to find IT professionals that fight against the unjust image of IT geeks. To qualify as an “IT hero,” IT specialists must have proof of an outstanding IT Career that truly makes a difference within the company and the willingness to fight for the equality of all IT Geeks out there.
London, United Kingdom, September 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The IT news portal, ComputerWeekly and the IT Accelerated learning company, Firebrand Training, have launched a competition to look for the men and women with the ability to fight the stereotypical image of the geeky IT professionals.
IT specialists who apply have to proof that they are able to achieve excellent results in both the professional and personal spheres.
Entrants need to highlight the cutting edge and essential work they're carrying out for companies or in their community. The winner will be invited to become 'IT ambassadors' to encourage others to join the industry and change the current perception of IT, of course there are prices to be won as well.
The final winners will be ambassadors for the IT industry, the first stage competition closes on 26 September 2008.
At present the information technology industry is suffering from a real “skill crisis”. The campaign is aiming to prove that not all people working in IT are geeks, but that also cool, fun loving and ambitious people are representatives of the IT industry. “IT superheroes” goal is to disproving the stereotype of the IT industry, and eventually encourage more people to choose the IT career path.

Criteria - an IT Superhero must have:
• Minimum of two years' experience within the IT industry showing commitment to IT and a dedication to its development.
• Proven achievement within IT, for example setting up a successful company, or delivering a business-changing idea or project, or using IT to benefit the community.
• Dedication to your job and passionate about IT – an IT Superhero needs to be enthusiastic and proud of their industry.
• Desire to change the way people view IT and the personals skills to communicate their enthusiasm and passion for the industry to others to encourage a new generation of IT thinkers.
