Angels Among Us: New Kids’ Book Teaches Kindness — with Some Heavenly Help
Haverhill, MA, September 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A heartfelt message of love and acceptance—with a heavenly twist—is at the center of “According to Angels: The Story of JillyB the Angel,” a lavishly illustrated new children’s book from Outskirts Press author Darcy Anne Cardarelli.
Now available through the OP Store (www.outskirtspress.com/store.php), “According to Angels” tells the story of JillyB, a young angel who’s eager to land her first big assignment helping mankind—and how she makes a difference in the lives of the boys and girls she meets once she gets the chance.
The book is the first in a planned “According to Angels” series, but only the latest development in the unique story’s evolution. Cardarelli developed the idea for the “According to Angels” series from stories she told her young daughter, focusing the subjects on stressful issues children face every day, such as problems on the playground and the challenge of attending a new school.
“I would tell my little daughter a story every night about angels who would come down from heaven to help kids on earth,” says Cardarelli. “The angels would have heart-shaped pockets full of God’s love that they would sprinkle all around. The love would help the children make the best choices when resolving the problem at hand.”
Fast forward, and the result is a gorgeous full-color immersion into the lives and experiences of angels. In an expressive and painterly technique, artist Leslie Alfred McGrath brilliantly captures Cardarelli’s characters and the essence of the story’s message.
In the story, JillyB—accompanied by her more experienced angel friend Joey and his trusty dog Boomer¾heads to earth to teach the importance of kindness. Disguised as ordinary human children, JillyB and Joey happen across a playground where a group of boys and girls is playing a game of kickball. But one boy isn’t invited to play¾because, the kids say, he isn’t good enough.
That spurs JillyB to use the angels’ special “iGOD network” to ask God to send his love and help the children make the right choices. God fills Jillian’s pocket full of His love and she sprinkles it all around to show the children an important lesson: that valuable team members come with all sorts of abilities: “No one’s good at everything, but we all have special talents,” Joey says.
“I hope ‘According to Angels’ reaffirms to all who read it that God’s love is always there to help make the best choices,” Cardarelli says. “With God’s love, we can all make a difference, one person, one heart at a time!”
An inspiring and uplifting way to help children deal with everyday challenges, “According to Angels: The Story of JillyB the Angel” is now available through Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and the online bookstore of Outskirts Press, at outskirtspress.com/store.php.
