Trellchem® VPS-FLASH Now Certified to NFPA 1991-2005 with Liquefied Gas Option
Mansfield, MA, September 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Trellchem® announces that the next evolution of Flash Protective Hazmat Suits - Trellchem VPS-Flash – is now certified to the Liquefied Gas standard within NFPA 1991-2005. This completes all possible certification testing for this suit, which is already certified to the Flash-Fire standard.
This unique reusable, single skin, one layer suit is made of a new patent pending garment material developed and produced by Trelleborg Protective Products. The material is a combination of specialized rubber and plastic laminates, which together with a special woven fabric forms a strong and flexible material that offers outstanding chemical flash fire protection. Additionally, this material exhibits excellent resistance to abrasion, punctures, tears and superior chemical resistance properties.
The testing for the optional Liquefied Gas protection involves permeation testing (suit material, visor, glove and footwear) with the following gases in their liquid state:
· Ammonia
· Chlorine
· Ethylene oxide
The permeation tests are performed after the material has been subjected to direct contact with dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide, will give temperatures down to -110°F) followed by rigorous flexing. The pass/fail criterion set by the NFPA standard is the for permeation resistance greater than 15 minutes, which is considered to be a very long exposure time for a gas in the liquid state.
“Certification of the Trellchem VPS-Flash to NFPA 1991-2005 with both Flash Fire & Liquefied Gas options demonstrates the complete protection level of this suit” says Mr. Ulf Nystrom, Certification & Standards Manager for Trellebrog Protective Products. “With abrasion & puncture resistance that is far superior to all other competitive products, this is the Hazmat Suit that will truly protect the End User”.
In addition to all of the NFPA standards that the Trellchem VPS-Flash meets, the following benefits come standard with each suit:
-Impact Resistant Hard Visor
-Superior Neoprene closure
-Easy Don/Doff Bayonet Cuff System
-High-Visibility Orange Color
-Optional Anti-Fog Lens (virtually eliminates all condensation!)
-Highest material abrasion resistance
