Wallen Wins Title of CEO Triathlon National Champion
Portland, OR, September 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Aaron Wallen, president of Haas Insulation from Honolulu, Hawaii, took home the CEO Challenge title at the 2008 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship with a time of 2:10:19. Nine CEOs competed for the CEO Challenge title during the race in Portland, Ore., on Sept. 20., hosted by Boulder, Colo.-based CEO Challenges, the world leader in sport competitions designed specifically for C-level executives (www.ceochallenges.com).
Wallen is an accomplished amateur triathlete, having completed three Ironman World Championships and eight 70.3 races. He recently finished second in his age group and seventh overall in the Lavaman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. This was Wallen’s first CEO Challenge competition.
Mike Dannelley, president and CEO of American Interbanc, LLC, finished second with a time of 2:19:33. Thomas Stroup, co-founder and CEO of CSM Wireless and Squareloop, finished third, posting a time of 2:21:43.
In addition, Olympian Matt Reed of Boulder, who co-hosted the CEO Challenge program in Portland, took home the National Championship. Reed gave a pre-race talk to the 10 participating CEOs. Reed used a strong running leg to pull away from the competition and win the USA Triathlon Elite National title in a time of 1:54:30.
“It was an awesome event, especially with ‘Big Matty’ taking home the Elite title,” said Ted Kennedy, president and founder of CEO Challenges. “Our CEO competitors turned in some great times and effort. We’re definitely looking forward to the Ironman World Championship in Kona next month; Aaron is expected to be on top of his game at the race.”
The Age Group National Championship is one of the most competitive amateur triathlon contests at the Olympic distance in the United States. The course included a 1.5-km swim, a 40-km bike leg and a 10-km run.
This year, CEO Challenges will host 12 competitions specifically designed for CEOs worldwide. Next up: the 2008 CEO Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, on Oct. 11, and the CEO Cycling Challenge with George Hincapie on November 9.
