Makers of Sense Launch Remix Contest
The electronic production duo is calling for remixes of two songs from their new album “Out of the Box.” The winners will be included in the record and get a chance to perform in the album release tour. The new era of Web 2.0 music releases is here, where bands invite fans to play and record with them.
Chicago, IL, September 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Makers of Sense are calling for remixes of their tracks “Much Further" and "I Know U Want Me". The band wants to provide opportunities for fans and new artist on a global scale, engaging them as part of the “Out of the Box” album release. They are using the power of Web 2.0 by posting the songs’ elements on blogs, forums, and social networking sites across the internet, and calling for anyone to remix them into new versions. The remixes can then be submitted to the band through Sonicbids, a community-based website that connects musicians to opportunities provided by promoters and labels. The best entries will be included in the Makers of Sense’s debut album “Out of the Box” and win a set of professional headphones plus several copies of the record. But, more importantly, the selected artists will become part of the Makers of Sense project, performing at the album release tour and participating in other promotional and artistic experiences to establish a two-way relationship with the band and their label.
“We always fill our music with new sounds and grooves that are perfect starting points for different remix versions”, says Cristian Huepe a.k.a. labo_labs, one of the two members of the band, “and we think some of those versions could make great dance tracks”. The band has pushed the envelope to create a different sound, in the tradition of Spank Rock, Santogold and other mavericks. They are at the forefront of today's music scene, fusing electronica, hip hop, house, trance, dub, and live instrumentation. Brother El, the other member the duo, explains what they expect from the contest, "We are mainly interested in club and dance oriented remixes that are appealing to DJs, but would also really like to get creative submissions in any other style."
The Makers of Sense have made their mark in the music scene by using innovative approaches to production and promotion. They sparked widespread interest last year by becoming the first band to offer a live act on eBay, performing at the highest bidder’s 2008 New Year celebration. Later this year, they went on to win the Chicago Reader Magazine's, “Best Experimental Act for 2008”. Their debut album, “Out of the Box” is scheduled for a December ’08 national and international release. In their view, everything related to this record, from the tour and promotional campaign to the music, must be Out of the Box.
